Suspicious device at Spokane home was batteries wrapped together, landlord says

The device was described as looking like a pipe bomb, which was found by the landlord while serving an eviction notice.

SPOKANE, Wash. — A suspicious device that was found at a Spokane home, causing police and fire crews to respond, was a group of batteries wrapped together, according to the landlord.

The landlord of a house at West Gardner Avenue and North Maple Street said he found the device while serving and eviction notice, according to KREM's Dave Somers. The landlord later said after the scene was cleared that it turned out to be batteries wrapped together, according to Somers.

According to KREM's Brett Allbery, the scene was clear as of 1:50 p.m.
