CHENEY, Wash. – Eastern Washington University just made the NCAA tournament for only the second time in program history.
If the Eagles plan on making it back, they may have to do so without the nation's leading scorer – Tyler Harvey.
Harvey announced Wednesday his plans to forego his senior season at EWU and enter the 2015 NBA Draft.
Harvey said he will return home to Torrance, Calif., this week, complete his communications degree online and then prepare for the draft.
"When I went home, I had a good chance to talk to my family about everything and what happened this year," Harvey said.
"We felt like the time was right."
Eastern head coach Jim Hayford was in attendance and said Harvey has their full support.
"The dream of nearly every elite college player is to make it to the NBA," Hayford said.
Harvey said he has not yet hired an agent and has not totally ruled out returning to EWU for his senior season but said as of now his mind is made up.
The NCAA only gives underclassmen until April 12 to submit paperwork should he decide to withdraw his name from the NBA draft.
Harvey was named an honorable mention All-America selection by the Associated Press on March 30. Harvey was also a first team selection on the All-Big Sky Conference team for the second straight season.
The NBA Draft is June 25 in New York.
