Football fans can swap Shock gear for Empire shirts

The Spokane Empire was previously the Spokane Shock. They changed the name back in December.

SPOKANE, Wash. – The new Spokane Empire indoor football team is allowing fans an opportunity to swap out their old team gear.

Between February 1 and February 6, fans can go to any Umpqua Bank location in Spokane and Coeur d’Alene and turn in their old Spokane Shock t-shirts for a new Spokane Empire shirt.

The Spokane Empire was previously the Spokane Shock. They changed the name back in December.

The organization opened a "Name the Team" contest in early November and received over 400 unique submissions from fans. The front office then went through a process of elimination based off trademark availability, suitability, and correlation to make their final selection.

The Spokane Empire will kick off their 2016 regular season on the road against the Tri-Cities Fever on Saturday, Feb. 20. Their home opener will be Saturday, Feb. 27 against the Wichita Falls Nighthawks.
