All lanes of I-90 back open following multi-day closure

WSDOT crews shifted the closure points on I-90 between Tyler and Four Lakes to use SR 904 as the primary detour. As of Monday, all I-90 lanes are back open.

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — Update: All lanes of I-90 are back open as on 2:45 p.m. on Monday.

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) changed the closure points on I-90 between Tyler and Four Lakes on Monday morning. On Monday afternoon, all lanes of eastbound I-90 opened back up.

According to WSDOT, maintenance crews moved the closure points of I-90 at 12 a.m. on Monday. The shift will use State Route (SR) 904 through Cheney as the primary detour route. There is still no ETA on when all lanes of I-90 will reopen.

I-90 has been closed between Tyler and Four Lakes over the weekend due to a large wildfire burning in Medical Lake. As crews continue battling the fire, WSDOT is changing where I-90 closures will be.

Starting at 12 a.m. Monday, the west closure point will move from Sprague at milepost 245 to the Tyler/SR 904 interchange at milepost 257. This means all westbound I-90 traffic will use SR 904 through Cheney as the main detour route.

SR 904 was previously closed at the Tyler/I-90 interchange due to fire activity, but WSDOT says it will now reopen at 12 a.m. Monday.

All previous detours using US 2 and other routes will be removed, according to WSDOT. Commercial vehicles with oversized load permits for I-90 only are not allowed to use the detour routes.
