Tinsley stays steady as WSU offense puts on show in Spokane

SPOKANE -- It was a beautiful day in Spokane for the annual Crimson and Gray game at Joe Albi Stadium.

The quarterback position is still very much a question mark, but Trey Tinsley had a great game throwing three touchdowns for 213 yards with no interceptions and, only, five incomplete passes.

A favorite target of his, as well as anyone else throwing for the Crimson team, was Kyle Sweet who was catching everything in sight. The senior will be one of the few veterans in that receiving group entering the fall. Sweet grabbed eight catches for 138 receiving yards. Mr. Consistent is looking to build off his best year in 2017 with 50+ catches and 500+ receiving yards.

As for some local players, East Valley's Rodrick Fisher and Gonzaga Prep's Armani Marsh were back at Joe Albi Stadium where they spent some time during their prep days.

The true freshman Fisher caught a touchdown from Tinsley during the game while Marsh picked off a pass for the third straight scrimmage.

These two Spokane players might find their way onto the field in 2018.

As for some other news and notes from the Crimson and Gray game, stud freshman running back Max Borghi had a score. We know we're going to see a good chunk of him in the fall.

Freshman quarterback Camm Cooper had a decent day throwing for 120 yards with one score and no picks. He's still looking like a redshirt option for the upcoming season.

The defense gave up 634 passing yards forcing two turnovers with five touch-sacks. We're still trying to figure out what's going to happen with Tracy Claeys' unit, but it wasn't a great showing from them forcing very little pressure on the quarterbacks.

Crimson beats Gray, 34-24.
