Below average snowfall expected in January for Spokane

Coupled with a warmer and drier November, Spokane is now running about 8 inches below average for seasonal snowfall.

A wet second half of December resulted in seasonal snowpack being replenished in the mountains across the Inland Northwest. In Eastern Washington and the Idaho Panhandle, the snow-water equivalent was running between 88 percent to over 100 percent of normal as of the end of December.

Spokane, on the other hand, came in below average for snowfall in December due to milder temperatures. Spokane received 12.1 inches of snow in December, which is about 3 inches below average.
