WSU's Jaylen Wells enters transfer portal

Wells averaged 12.6 points per game and shot 41.7 percent from three point range in his one season in Pullman.

PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State junior guard Jaylen Wells has entered the transfer portal. Wells averaged 12.6 points per game and shot 41.7 percent from three point range in his one season in Pullman.

Earlier this offseason, Wells announced he was declaring for the 2024 NBA Draft, but maintaining his college eligibility, but now it seems like if he returns to school, he will not be returning to WSU.

Wells becomes the 12th Coug from last year's NCAA Tournament team to enter the transfer portal.

Despite his early departure, Wells will live forever in WSU lore for his game winning four point play in a win over Arizona in Tucson to move the Cougs into a tie for first place in the PAC-12 at the time.

The 6'8" Wells was a division two transfer from Sonoma State who worked his way into Kyle Smith's starting lineup midway through the season.

As of now, the only remaining Coug who averaged over 10 minutes per game last season is Isaiah Watts.

New WSU head coach David Riley has also brought Ethan Price, LeJuan Watts and Dane Erikstrup with him to Pullman from EWU.

Idaho's all time leading scorer Kase Wynott has also committed to WSU.
