High school basketball state tournaments: March 5th

State tournament quarterfinals took place in both Washington and Idaho.

WASHINGTON BOYS PREP BASKETBALL 

4A State

Quarterfinal

Central Valley 65, Skyview 64 (highlights in video)- Jayce Simmons had 17 while Noah Sanders and Gavin Gilstrap added 16 apiece as Central Valley hung on to win. They led by 12 at one point late in the third quarter, but Skyview competed until the buzzer. Central Valley will play Union in the semis on Friday at 7:15 PM.

2A State

Quarterfinal

Clarkston 51, Black Hills 42 (highlights in video)- Trey Dreadfulwater scored 18 points for the Bantams. Clarkston plays in the semifinals against Lindbergh on Friday at 9 PM.

2B State

Quarterfinal

Brewster 51, Toutle Lake 27 (highlights in video)- Cade Gebbers scored 17 points. Brewster plays St. George's in the semifinals on Friday at 9 PM.

Liberty 71, Willapa Valley 62 (highlights in video)- The top seeded Lancers now go to the consolation bracket. Liberty was down 3 going into the fourth period, but the Vikings opened the fourth on an 8-1 run and never looked back. 

Life Christian Academy 57, Lake Roosevelt 46

St. George's 55, White Swan 53 (highlights in video)- Nico Morales and Nick Watkins each had 15 points for the Dragons. St. George’s plays Brewster in the semifinals on Friday at 9 PM.

Quarterfinal

Odessa 42, Almira/Coulee-Hartline 39 (highlights in video)- Ryan Moffet scored 17 points to lead the Tigers. ACH had a chance to send the game to overtime but their three as time expired was off the mark. Odessa plays Naselle in the semifinals on Friday at 3:45 PM.

4A State

Quarterfinal

Central Valley 72, Issaquah 55 (highlights in video)- Five Central Valley players scored in double digits with Chloe Williams leading the pack with 14. Central Valley plays Union in the semis on Friday at 5:30 PM.

Union 56, Moses Lake 51 (highlights in video)- Moses Lake took the lead with under a minute and a half to go but never scored again. Anna Olson had 12 while Meagan Karstetter had 10.

3A State

Quarterfinal

Lake Washington 48, Mt. Spokane 45 (highlights in video)- Mt. Spokane got within a point on a Jayda Noble lay up with under a minute in the fourth quarter but never overcame the hump. Emma Main had a shot at the game tying three as time expired, but it was off the mark.

2A State

Quarterfinal

West Valley 44, W. F. West 43 (highlights in video)- West Valley outscored W.F. West 15-5 in the last quarter to get the win. Jillian Taylor had the game winning shot with .6 seconds left. West Valley plays Tumwater at 5:30 on Friday in the semis.

Cashmere 68, Annie Wright 31

Freeman 47, Warden 40 (highlights in video)- Freeman went on a 12-0 run in the second quarter to put the game away. Anna Chisholm scored 16 points for the Scotties. Freeman plays Lynden Christian in the semifinals on Friday at 9 PM. 

    

2B State

Quarterfinal

Liberty 69, Columbia (Burbank) 36 (highlights in video)- Maisie Burnham and Aleena Cook each score 21 points for the Lancers. Liberty plays Northwest Christian in the semifinals on Friday at 3:45.

Northwest Christian 50, Ilwaco 37 (highlights in video)- Natalie Smith scored 15 points and Ellie Sander added 13 points. The Crusaders play Liberty in the semifinal on Friday at 3:45.

1B State

Quarterfinal

Oakesdale 58, Neah Bay 49 (highlights in video)- Lizzy Perry led the way for the Nighthawks with 14 points. The Nighthawks play Pomeroy on Friday in the semifinals at 7:15 PM. 

Pomeroy 41, Curlew 26 (highlights in video)- Mandy Dixon was unstoppable for the Pirates. She scored 26 of her team’s 41 points. Top seeded Pomeroy plays Oakesdale Friday in the semifinals at 7:15 PM. 

Inchelium 74, Wellpinit 63 (highlights in video)- Mia Pakootas had 24 points for Inchelium. Ashawna Robinson had 22 points for Wellpinit. The Hornets move on to the semifinals to play Mount Vernon Christian on Friday at 9 PM. 

IDAHO BOYS PREP BASKETBALL

Class 5A

State Quarterfinal

Borah 58, Lake City 38

Post Falls 39, Timberline 30 (highlights in video)- Post Falls was up three with a minute to play. After a Timberline foul, the Timberline player who fouled slammed his hands on the scorer’s table, drawing a technical foul. Post Falls would make both free throws and Cole Rutherford would make a lay up on the ensuing possession. They play Rock Mountain in the semis at 5:15 PM PT.

Class 4A

State Quarterfinal

Moscow 56, Minico 47 (highlights in video)- Moscow locked up Minico in the second half as Minico only shot 17% from the field. Benny Kitchel had 22 points, while Blake Buchanen had 14. Moscow plays Kuna in the semis at 7 PM PT.

Lakeside 95, Garden Valley 69 (highlights in video)- Lakeside scored six points in the final minute of the first quarter and the route was on. Kenyon Spotted Horse scored 26 points. Day Day Higgins had 21 points. The Knights play Dietrich on Friday in the semifinals at 7 PM.

N. Fremont 45, Grangeville 35

St. Maries 48, New Plymouth 40 (highlights in video)- The Lumberjacks outscored New Plymouth 17-6 in the second quarter to get a firm lead. St. Maries plays West Side in the semi on Friday at 5:15 PM PT.

State Quarterfinals

Lapwai 52, Oakley 44 (highlights in video)- Lapwai trailed 16-0 to start the game. The Wildcats came back and shot over 70 percent from the field in the second half. They play Grace in the semifinals on Friday.

Potlatch 64, Riverstone International School 41 (highlights in video)- Brayden Hadaller compiled 26 points. The Loggers scored 36 points in the third period. They play Ambrose in the semifinals on Friday at 7 PM PT.
