SPOKANE, Wash. — The most inspiring moment from Gonzaga men's basketball Senior Night on Saturday came before the game.
Team manager Mac Graff walked under his own power onto the court of McCarthey Athletic Center after spending most of the past six years in a wheelchair. In 2014, Graff's spinal cord was dislodged and he broke two bones in his back in a hunting accident,
"Spokane has never seen me do that, the team has never seen me do that," Graff said. "So I thought it would be special."
It truly was. It was quite the inspiring moment and something he had planned on doing for the past year.
"I started planning this when I saw my buddies graduate last year like Josh Perkins, Jeremy Jones, Geno Crandall, Jack Beach and all those guys," he said. "I thought it would be a cool thing to do. So I've been doing physical therapy two days a week."
He showed that with perseverance, you can overcome anything. That's the message he wants people to take away from this special moment.
"I just hope they can take away that tomorrow is not promised, so live today like you would live your last day."
