No. 11 Gonzaga WBB finishes regular season with 56-42 win over Portland

The Zags used strong defense to pull away in the fourth period, outscoring Portland 16-7 in the final stanza.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Gonzaga women's basketball finished off the regular season with a 56-42 win against Portland on the road on Saturday.

The No. 11 ranked Zags pulled away in the fourth period thanks to some strong defense. Gonzaga held Portland to just 2-11 from the field in the final stanza.

LeeAnne Wirth scored eight of her 14 points in the final period. Her twin sister Jenn Wirth finished with 14 points as well.

The Zags play again next in the West Coast Conference tournament semifinals on March 9 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
