Mary Kuney wins race for District 2 Spokane Co. Commissioner

Mary Kuney was appointed county commissioner in September 2017 and previously served as precinct committee officer. Chase is an Army veteran who has served as Spokane County treasurer for the past seven years.

Mary Kuney was reelected as the Spokane County Commissioner in District 2.

Rob Chase was challenging Kuney for the seat.

As of 9:20 p.m. Tuesday, Kuney lead the race with 62 percent of the vote.

Kuney was appointed county commissioner in September 2017 and previously served as precinct committee officer.

“I ask for your vote so I may continue to work collaboratively to address the issues facing our community. My background as a CPA and Auditor gives me the unique financial expertise to help guide Spokane County through the challenging budget years ahead. I bring fiscally responsible solutions that protect the public, grow our economy, and maintain our infrastructure.

"As your County Commissioner I've been breaking down silos between departments, improving efficiency, and promoting collaboration to make your government work better for you. I will continue this work with your support,” Kuney said in a statement in the voters’ guide.

Kuney received 58 percent of the vote in the primary election. Chase received 40 percent of the vote.
