SPOKANE, Wash. — Teachers from schools in Spokane and Coeur d’Alene formed car parades to visit their students during coronavirus closures.
Indian Trail Elementary School teachers drove their cars decorated with balloons, streamers and handwritten messages around the neighborhood for about an hour on Wednesday morning.
The teachers honked, waved and smiled at their students, with some shouting, "We miss you!"
Spokane Public Schools will be closed until at least April 24 amid the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in Washington state.
"Not being able to see their faces every day is hard," one Indian Trail teacher said on Wednesday.
KREM viewer Joel Saccomanno also sent a video of teachers driving through a Coeur d’Alene neighborhood with signs on their cars.
Coeur d’Alene schools are closed through April 6.
Saccomanno said some of the messages from teachers read, “we miss you, we love you, stay positive and safe, see you soon, and take care of yourselves.”
“It truly brought tears to my eyes,” he wrote to KREM.
