Gonzaga University and Fairchild Air Force Base announce STEM partnership

The partnership will let students and personnel work together using the air force base's resources.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga University (GU) and Fairchild Air Force Base announced their new partnership that gives GU students access to new opportunities.

The new partnership allows GU students to use Fairchild's equipment, information, personnel and other resources. This Educational Partnership Agreement (EPA) will create opportunities for community engagement, education and technology.

“Not only does this open doors for students and faculty to the Department of Defense laboratory system, but Fairchild personnel will also be able to explore a host of educational opportunities throughout Gonzaga’s curriculum,” said Dr. Karlene Hoo, dean of GU’s School of Engineering and Applied Science. “This is a win-win for Gonzaga and Fairchild alike.”

GU held a signing ceremony on Friday to commemorate the occasion.

“Fairchild Innovation Office is thrilled to formalize our partnership with Gonzaga as it provides opportunities for students to solve real world problems by creating new technology to meet our needs.” said Master Sgt. Lehman, Innovation Cell Superintendent. “Together, we will provide invaluable opportunities for personal and professional development for members in our local community.”
