Woman found dead after SWAT standoff in Spirit Lake

A later update from KCSO said the woman was "found deceased in an apartment." It is unclear if the woman was shot by a police officer.

SPIRIT LAKE, Idaho — A woman was found dead in a Spirit Lake apartment Wednesday following a SWAT standoff with police, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office (KCSO).

The Spirit Lake Police Department responded to an apparent mental health crisis at an apartment at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. When police arrived, they encountered a woman and, at some point, an officer fired their weapon.

Police did not give any information regarding what happened leading up to the shooting.

A later update from KCSO said the woman was "found deceased in an apartment." It is unclear if the woman was shot by a police officer.

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a woman was found dead following a SWAT standoff Wednesday night in Spirit Lake.

The woman was identified as 67-year-old Sa Floyd from Spirit Lake.

The North Idaho Critical Incident Task Force is investigating the incident.
