SPOKANE, Wash-- — It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
And the prettiest sight you see might be the holly at your own front door.
Or if you have little kids, it might not.
Anyone who decorates for Christmas knows it takes a lot of work. Add in two toddlers underfoot and decorating becomes a little trickier.
Both of my children insisted on helping decorate the tree this year. And it was— interesting. And the perfect bit of chaos to start the Christmas season. So here’s what they gave me:
On the 12th day of Christmas my toddlers gave to me…
12 Broken ornaments
11 Homemade decorations
10 Ho Ho Hos
9 Presents with the gift tags ripped off
8 Sibling fights
7 Missing hooks
6 Hot wheels chucked into the tree
5 Fantastic Celebrations
4 Strands of half lit lights
3 Nearly eaten ornaments
2 Hands covered in sap
And 1 very magnificent tree
More than anything, my toddlers gave me endless memories.
They loved every moment of it. Despite the broken bits of glass and chaos, it was perfect.
So embrace the chaos, pack your patience, laugh off the stress and have a Merry Christmas.
