It might not be the 'rain train' but here comes a Pineapple Express

A series of storms and fronts will develop this weekend, bringing heavy precipitation Thursday-Sunday.

A Pineapple Express is going to bring in a lot of rain and mountain snow from the Pacific Ocean this weekend.

Temperatures will be mild at times this weekend due to warmer air flowing in.

The atmospheric river stretches from Hawaii to California and ultimately up to the Pacific Northwest.

You can see it in the GOES West Satellite animation.

A series of storms and fronts will develop this weekend, bringing heavy precipitation Thursday through Sunday.

Snow totals over the highest terrain of the Cascades and Western Montana will range from six inches to several feet.

A Pineapple Express is a type of weather phenomenon known as an atmospheric river.

A narrow band of moisture, typically only about 250 miles wide, atmospheric rivers carry heavy rain and strong winds.

If the atmospheric river originates near Hawaii, it's called the Pineapple Express.
