Ephrata teen dead following rollover crash on Highway 17 near Soap Lake

Officials said the teen failed to negotiate the curve and lost control before overturning.

SOAP LAKE, Wash. — A teenage boy from Ephrata lost his life after his car overturned on Highway 17 near Soap Lake Monday night.

According to Washington State Patrol (WSP), the 16-year-old was driving southbound near milepost 88. Officials said he failed to negotiate the curve and lost control before overturning.

The car eventually came to a stop in the northbound lane on its top. 

The teen was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials said drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the incident.
