FREEMAN, Wash. — Travelers using State Route 27 near Freeman should expect additional travel time on May 1.

According to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), SR 27 will be reduced to one lane in both directions north of the Palouse Highway intersection. Flaggers will guide drivers through the work zone. The work is expected to begin at 7 a.m. and end at approximately 3 p.m.

WSDOT crews are working to install sensors at the weigh-in-motion site near the Freeman School District. WSODT said these sites allow commercial vehicles to be weighed by driving over a sensor installed in the road. This prevents drivers from having to stop at a traditional weigh station, and keeps products moving while ensuring important data is collected.

WSDOT did not say whether the project is expected to take one day or longer.
