SEATTLE, Wash. – The self-professed best cornerback in the game is a father, and the date he was born makes sense.
Rayden Sherman was born Thursday morning, Richard Sherman announced on his Twitter account, adding that he was "ecstatic."
No. 25 also noted that Rayden's arrival came on Feb. 5, or 2/5.
No other details were given. Rayden's mother is Ashley Moss, Richard's girlfriend.
The arrival of Rayden caused some minor controversy during Super Bowl week as people speculated of Sherman would skip the game to be there for the birth. He said late in the week that he would be playing.
But Rayden did as his father expected. Sherman said last Thursday, "I think he's going to be a disciplined young man and stay in there until after the game."
