Washington State University names Anne McCoy as interim athletic director

McCoy currently served as WSU’s senior deputy director of athletics and senior woman administrator. She was also named interim athletic director in 2010.

PULLMAN, Wash. — Just one day after Pat Chun left WSU for UW’s athletic director position, WSU has named an interim athletic director. WSU President Kirk Schulz announced that Anne McCoy will serve as the interim athletic director until a permanent director is named.

McCoy currently served as WSU’s senior deputy director of athletics and senior woman administrator. She was also named interim athletic director in 2010 when the university was searching for a full-time AD.

“Anne is an outstanding administrator and a dyed-in-the-wool Coug,” Schulz said. “With more than two decades of experience in the WSU athletics department, she is uniquely qualified to ensure that Cougar athletics continues to excel as we search for the university’s next athletic director.”

According to the university, McCoy oversaw all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the WSU athletics department before being named the interim director. She also served as the sport supervisor for WSU women’s basketball, volleyball, soccer, and rowing.

WSU President Kirk Schulz says he has began a national search to replace Pat Chun who had served as WSU’s athletic director since 2018.
