Gonzaga vs. Pepperdine: How to watch Thursday’s college basketball game

Thursday's game against Pepperdine marks the opening of West Coast Conference play for Gonzaga.

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Gonzaga Bulldogs begin West Coast Conference play this week against the Pepperdine Waves in the Spokane Arena. The beginning of conference play comes at a time when Gonzaga is as vulnerable as they have been in nearly a decade. The Zags enter conference play having dropped three of their last five games.

Last Friday’s loss against San Diego State dropped the Zags to number 24 in the AP poll. The drop in rankings brings Gonzaga’s streak of 142 straight weeks in the AP poll into question. The loss was Gonzaga’s first nonconference loss at home since December 2015. It was just the third home loss overall for the Zags since the start of 2017.

The Pepperdine Waves come into Spokane with a 7-8 record and are coming off wins against William & Mary and Westcliff.

Game time, channel, and how to watch

Here are the details for those wondering what channel the Pepperdine-Gonzaga game is on.

The Pepperdine vs. Gonzaga game tips off in the Spokane Arena at 6 p.m. on Thursday, January 4. The game can be watched on NBC in Spokane and Coeur d'Alene and on ESPN+ for those outside the Inland Northwest.

Waves vs. Bulldogs

The last time Gonzaga took the floor was last Friday against San Diego State when the Aztecs beat the Bulldogs 84-74.

Graham Ike led Gonzaga with 20 points, with Anton Watson and Ryan Nembhard adding 16 points and 15 points, respectively. The Zags' 3-point shooting continues to be a problem. Gonzaga was five of 19 on 3s and failed to shoot better than 30% from behind the 3-point line for the fifth straight game.

Gonzaga is heading into conference play at 9-4 and second in the West Coast Conference.

Pepperdine was on the court last Friday, where they beat Westcliff 83-47. The Waves are led by Michael Ajayi, who averages nearly a triple-double with 17.3 points, 9.5 rebounds and a steal per game. Pepperdine is currently seventh in the West Coast Conference standings, only ahead of Pacific and Portland, who are both 6-9.
