Woman injured following chase, shooting on Market and Euclid

The woman is receiving treatment for life-threatening injuries at an area hospital. Hamilton Street between Sharp Avenue and Trent Avenue has reopened.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Police (SPD) have reopened Hamilton Street between Sharp Avenue and Trent Avenue as they investigate a shooting that left one woman with life-threatening injuries.

Police say a dispute over stolen property is what led to a shooting and chase.

The pursuit originally began on Market and Euclid with the suspected shooter allegedly trying to get away with stolen property. Police said the suspect fired multiple shots at a man who was allegedly trying to get his property back. He was not injured.

Once officers arrived in the area, they were able to stop the suspected shooter's vehicle using a PIT maneuver.

A woman in the car with the suspected shooter received a major head injury. Police at the scene said her injury was likely a gunshot. She is currently receiving treatment for life-threatening injuries at an area hospital.

A handgun believed to be connected to the chase was recovered by police on the Trent Avenue bridge.

Spokane Police said they would release more information later today.
