WALLA WALLA, Wash. — Members of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are investigating vandalism at Indian Memorial Park in Walla Walla.

According to officials, a prominent Native American monument at the Ice Harbor Lock and Dam was spray painted. The park itself was originally designed in 1965 to commemorate Tribal history in the region.

In response to the vandalism, the road near Shoreline Drive in Burbank, Washington, has been temporarily closed as the district assesses the damages to the monument and options to restore the site.

Anyone with information on the vandalism should contact the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Walla Walla District at (509) 527-7020.
