Spokane police respond to shooting near 29th Ave and Ray St

According to the Spokane Police Department, the suspect is in custody and the victim suffered minor injuries.

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Police Department (SPD) responded to a shooting Wednesday at 29th Ave and Ray Street.

According to an SPD public information officer, the shooting occurred just before 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Police said they received a 911 call from a victim saying they had been shot in the head. 

According to SPD, the victims drive's side window had been shot out and a description of the suspects vehicle was provided.

The suspected car was found shortly after the initial shooting and several people inside the car were detained. After interviewing suspects, 30-year-old Alexander Hayes was placed under arrest. 

SPD determined that a pellet/ BB gun was used and the incident was a "road rage" event. 

Nayes was arrested for 2nd degree assault and was booked into the Spokane County Jail. 

The victim was treated for minor injuries at the scene. 

There is also a large construction project happening on 29th Avenue that is already causing delays. Drivers should avoid the area if they are able to.
