Riverfront Park Pavilion to feature never-before-seen views of Spokane

People will get the chance to see 360 degrees of Spokane’s downtown, Riverfront Park and the Spokane River from 40 feet up.

SPOKANE, Wash.-- Construction of the pavilion in Riverfront Park is rounding the final stretch and will soon feature views of Spokane never seen before.

Right now, bright green vests and white hard hats make up most of the scene at the pavilion. But Garrett Jones, the Acting Director of Parks and Recreation, said in a year or two, the pavilion will be completed and host a summer concert series on the event floor, where patterns in the ceiling will cast shadows onto the stage.

A key difference in the new pavilion’s layout is elevation. People will get the chance to see 360 degrees of Spokane’s downtown, Riverfront Park and the Spokane River from 40 feet up.

The views will also be A.D.A. accessible.

“When you go up to the elevated experience, you’re able to now look at a part of the river that has not been able to be experienced before,” Jones said.

The event stage that Parks and Recreation debuted on the Fourth of July will be moved from the Lilac Meadow to the event floor to feature concerts and other events once construction is completed.
