All Level 3 evacuations downgraded for residents near Silver Lake Fire

Fire crews are responding to a brush fire along I-90 near Cheney Monday, according to Spokane County Fire District 3 officials.

Officials reported at 8:00 p.m. level 3 evacuation orders have been downgraded to level 2, meaning be ready to leave at a moment's notice. Residents east of Granite Lake Road and south of I-90 between Betz Road and Salnave Road are under level 2 evacuation orders. Those just west of Granite Lake Road and south of Murphy Road are under level 1 evacuations, meaning be aware and ready if the situation changes.

FEMA approves federal funds for Angel Springs Fire

The Angel Springs Fire north of Reardan has burned 4,500 acres and is 15 percent contained.

Level two and three evacuations remain in place.

There are road closures in the area and the Red Cross has opened a shelter for evacuees at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds.

200 soldiers from Joint Base Lewis-McChord to help with firefighting efforts

About 200 active duty soldiers from Joint Base Lewis-McChord near Tacoma, Washington, will soon help to fight fires in Washington state.

Right now, there are about 130 wildfires burning 1.6 million acres across the western U.S.

The National Interagency Fire Center located in Boise announced the mobilization.

Sandpoint police search for gunman after deadly shooting

Sandpoint police are are searching for a gunman after a deadly shooting at a local motel.

Officials said the shooting happened around 7 p.m. Monday at the Meandering Moose Motel on Marion Street.

Officials said the gunman ran from the scene and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Washington primary ballots due tonight

Ballots for Washington's August primary election must be postmarked or deposited in a drop box by 8 p.m. tonight.

Voters in our area can drop off their ballots, get replacements or find other help at the Spokane County elections Office.
