Body pulled from water in Riverfront Park

The body was pulled from the water near the visitors center, according to the Spokane Police Department.

SPOKANE, Wash. — A body was pulled from the water near the visitors center in Riverfront Park on Thursday afternoon, according to the Spokane Police Department.

At approximately 10 a.m. Thursday morning, crews with Avista lowered the water levels in the area to allow investigators to look for evidence of a recent robbery involving several suspects. Investigators were able to locate evidence but discovered a body in the water during the process.

SPD was not able to say if the person found was a man or a woman, but said the body appeared to have been in the water for a long time.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner has possession of the body and will help determine the person's cause and manner of death.

The scene is now clear.
