SPOKANE, Wash. — What is the KREM Cares Big Book Giveaway: It’s about getting books into the hands of kids! KREM 2 is committed to increasing access and equity in education. KREM 2, and our partners at BECU and Nom Nom, believe that books can open the world to so many children and help promote literacy and learning. The KREM Cares Big Book Giveaway in 2024 will give free books to all students at four regional elementary schools. We work with local school districts and our KREM 2 viewers to visit schools with a high need for support.
When: The KREM Cares team is visiting four schools in May. Tune in on Thursdays to watch where we visit and surprise the students and teachers with hundreds of books.
How many books: The KREM Cares team is handing out approximately 2,000 books during the 2024 campaign this May. We couldn’t do this without our partners at BECU. The BECU team is underwriting the cost of the books so that the kids can take them home and read with their families.
How do I get my school involved: This year we are allowing viewers to nominate a school. We will accept nominations from teachers, administration, parents, students (with permission of an adult), community members and concerned citizens. Nominations must include a contact name, email (or phone number), school name, and town (location). Nominations must also be 250 words or less. Click the link below to nominate your favorite school.
Who is involved: KREM 2 partners with many groups and businesses to serve our community. A special thank you to BECU, Nom Nom, Spokane Public Schools and Communities in Schools Spokane for helping build better families and support the KREM Cares Big Book Giveaway.
