WENACHEE, Wash.—North central Washington will be represented at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. this May by a Tonasket Middle School student.

Eighth grader Kara Willson faced off with 44 other students from grades fourth through eighth that qualified from their schools to compete in the regional spelling bee.

Each of the participants earned their place in the regional spelling bee by scoring as one of the top two spellers in their school spelling bee.
