OLYMPIA, Wash. -- A bill to “Ban the Box” on job applications that ask about criminal history has been signed into law by Governor Jay Inslee.

Inslee signed the Washington Fair Chance Act Tuesday afternoon.

The law does not allow employers to ask about arrests or convictions until after the employer determines if the potential employee is qualified for the job. The only exception included jobs in places like schools, state agencies, law enforcement and businesses that look after children, people with disabilities and vulnerable adults.
