There have been long waits reported at DMV offices around Idaho.

BOISE, Idaho — If you're dreading spending hours camped out at the DMV, there's some good news.

The Idaho Transportation Department announced Thursday that it has launched a new website that allows Idahoans to renew drivers license and other ID cards online.

"Our new online services page, Drive Idaho, brings all of the new and existing DMV's online services into one, easy-to-navigate page," Division of Motor Vehicles Administrator Alberto Gonzalez said. "Qualified Idahoans can now skip the line at the county sheriffs' and assessors' offices by going online for DMV services."

Anyone who needs to apply for the Star Card, Idaho's REAL ID, still needs to physically go into the DMV. A list of documents applicants must provide in order to obtain a STAR Card can be found here.

ITD officials say the site will help alleviate long waits at the DMV.

"Not only will online services at the Drive Idaho website be convenient, but it will reduce lines at the county offices for those who choose or are required to go there for DMV services," Gonzalez said.
