Missing Nevada man found dead after apparent accident in N. Idaho

KCSO said Westbrook was found dead in the area of Highway 3 and Highway 97.

UPDATE: The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office said they have located the body of the man who had been missing since leaving Hayden on Monday, heading to Kellogg.

Robert Westbrook, 73, from Elko, Nevada, was found deceased near the area of Highway 3 and Highway 97 near the Kootenai and Benewah county line.

KCSO said his vehicle was found by an Idaho State Trooper on Highway 3 about two miles south of Highway 97.

"Preliminarily it appears, for unknown reasons, that Westbrook's vehicle left the roadway and subsequently crashed approximately 50 feet down an embankment," KCSO said in a release.

KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho – Deputies in Kootenai County are searching for a missing man who left Hayden on Monday and has not been seen since.

In a shared Facebook post, a family member said Robert Westbrook left the U.S. Renal office in Hayden at 4:30 p.m. on Monday to head to Kellogg.

He was driving a 2008 Ford F350 extended cab pickup with Nevada plates.
