KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho -- Crews from Northern Lakes Fire, Coeur d'Alene Fire and Kootenai County Fire doused a fire earlier Wednesday afternoon on Avon Circle.

The occupants got out of the home safely, due in part to working smoke detectors. Northern Lakes Fire Chief Pat Riley said one person in the house at the time of the fire said he awoke due to the smell of smoke and the sound of a smoke detector.

Chief Riley said the first responders said the house was fully involved in the fire and it took approximately an hour to put out the flames.

Avon Circle was closed for a period of time, but did reopen.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
