SPOKANE, Wash. — Molina Healthcare and MolinaCares Accord presented Catholic Charities of Eastern Washington (CCEW) with $80,000 to fund support programs for unhoused people.
The money will be used to expand services for families struggling with housing instability. MolinaCares will also provide a care coordinator to help people living in CCEW's housing programs in Spokane.
“We are grateful for partners like Molina that share our dedication to providing solutions for the unhoused,” said Rob McCann, president and CEO of CCEW. “The MolinaCares grant will help us to proactively combat this growing issue and connect Washingtonians to the resources they need.”
According to data from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Washington ranked second for most unhoused people per capita. This year's Homeless Connect program helped 2,000 people. In 2023, 1,200 people attended Homeless Connect.
“Through this grant, we hope to close a gap and create greater stability for families in Spokane,” said Dr. Jay Fathi, plan president of Molina Healthcare of Washington. “Molina is committed to improving health outcomes for individuals in Washington and we are proud to partner with CCEW in the great work they are doing.”
