Pullman firefighter released from coronavirus quarantine

The firefighter had come into contact with a patient that has since tested negative for coronavirus (COVID-19).

PULLMAN, Wash. — A City of Pullman firefighter was released from quarantine Friday after a patient they came into contact with tested negative for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The City of Pullman announced on Thursday that the firefighter-medic had been placed in quarantine "out of an abundance of caution" after contacting a patient showing coronavirus symptoms during a patient transport to Pullman Regional Hospital on Wednesday.

The firefighter was quarantined pending the patient's results and is now back to full-duty, according to a tweet from the City of Pullman.

Earlier in March, Washington State University decided to hold classes online for the rest of the semester in response to the coronavirus outbreak. Governor Jay Inslee also closed all public and private K-12 schools in the state through April 24, and directed all higher education institution to cease in-person classes.

Inslee has also ordered all bars, restaurants, entertainment and recreational venues to close for the rest of March.
