Tuition increase approved by Washington State University Regents for 2024-2025

The tuition increase applies to all students, regardless of their residency status.

PULLMAN, Wash. — The Washington State University (WSU) Board of Regents voted to approve a tuition increase of 3% for the 2024-2025 school year.

According to the WSU Insider, regents approved the tuition raise for all students, regardless of their residency status.

WSU's student government acknowledged the increase in a letter to the Board of Regents and asked for a 2.5% tuition raise.

The student government also asked leaders to continue to try to find other ways to save money and seek revenue to lower the impact on students.

Students from several colleges will not see tuition increase in the next school year. That includes:

  • College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science, Doctor of Pharmacy program
  • College of Veterinary Medicine, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program
  • College of Nursing, Master of Nursing program

WSU officials said costs such as a 7% salary and wage expenses increase contributed to the rise of tuition prices. They're also expecting to see increased costs related to the university entering its first-ever contract with WSU Academic Student Employees.

The next WSU Board of Regents meeting takes place on the Tri-Cities WSU campus in Richland on March 7-8.
