Former Riverside Elementary School employee indicted on federal child pornography charges

Dallas Shuler was indicted for one count of production, one count of distribution and one count of receipt of child pornography.
28-year-old Dallas M. Shuler was arrested after an investigation into a video that allegedly depicted minors engaging in sexually explicit content.

CHATTAROY, Wash. — A federal grand jury for the Eastern District of Washington has indicted a former Riverside Elementary School employee for multiple child pornography charges.

Dallas Shuler, 28, was indicted Wednesday for one count of production of child pornography, one count of distribution of child pornography and one count of receipt of child pornography. In Spokane County, Shuler is charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and possessing and dealing in sexually explicit content involving minors. He was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail on May 11, where he currently remains.

If convicted of the charges listed in the indictment, Shuler could spend up to 70 years in prison.

The investigation began on May 6 when Spokane County detectives received information regarding an alleged child sex abuse video. A day later, the suspect was identified and investigators learned he was employed as a paraeducator at Riverside Elementary School.

Investigators contacted school administrators and informed them of the information. Shuler agreed to speak with investigators. It was at this time the School Resource Deputy told Shuler that he was not allowed on any Riverside School District property. Shuler was informed that if he returned without authorization, he would be arrested for trespassing.

On May 11, detectives contacted a Sheriff’s Office deputy and probable cause was established to charge Shuler with two counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, , Dealing in the Depictions of Minors Engaged in Sexually Explicit Conduct, and Possession of Depictions of Minors Engaged in Sexual Explicit Conduct. 

Shuler’s bond was set at $150,000. He is set to appear in Spokane County Superior Court again on May 29.
