SPOKANE, Wash. — Newly released court documents are revealing more details about a shooting that left one man dead in northeast Spokane in March.

The shooting, which occurred in the area of Thor and Cleveland on March 22, 2024, took the life of 36-year-old Thomas J. Reynolds. Spokane Police detectives responding to the scene noticed spent shell casings, tire tracks and blood trails within the area where Reynolds was found.

Reynolds eventually died from his injuries at the scene, which was a single gunshot wound to the back.

Detectives narrowed their search for a suspect by observing a 1995 green Chevy Tahoe through surveillance video. According to court documents, investigators noted video of the car traveling eastbound on Cleveland from North Ralph Street around the time of the shooting.

Detectives also highlighted another video showing Reynolds running westbound on East Cleveland Avenue before falling to the ground and screaming for help. Four to five loud bangs can be heard in one of the videos, indicating gunshots.

Once investigators were able to make out the license plate, they narrowed their search to the car's owner, 37-year-old Daniel Robert Quinn. Law enforcement contacted Quinn with a search warrant for the car. During the search, detectives found multiple types of ammunition, loaded magazines and military grade body armor.

After the search, police developed probable cause to charge Quinn with second-degree murder. A background check on Quinn revealed six prior felony convictions.

Police also developed probable cause to charge the suspect with first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.

Quinn appeared in court on Monday, April 22, where his bond was set at $1 million.
