Suspected DUI driver crashes into South Hill home with family inside

Spokane police said a preliminary test showed that the suspect had a blood alcohol content of about 2.5 times the legal limit.

SPOKANE, Wash. — A family fortunately escaped injury when a suspected DUI driver crashed into their South Hill home on Thursday night.

Spokane police said they were called to a crash in the 4200 block of South Garfield Street at about 7 p.m. on Thursday. While they were on their way to the scene, officers learned the crash was a vehicle versus home crash.

Officers on scene said the driver, identified as 66-year-old Bradford Hunter, was uninjured but showing several signs of impairment consistent with alcohol.

Bradford was arrested for DUI following an investigation, police said. A preliminary test showed Bradford had a blood alcohol content of about two-and-a-half times the legal limit.

Police said there was a family inside the home during the crash but they were not injured.

A second DUI crash at Sprague Avenue and Freya Street also prompted police response on Thursday night.
