SPOKANE, Wash. — Three teenagers, ages 12, 13 and 14, were arrested for an armed robbery of a convenience store on Monday evening, according to Spokane Police Officer John O'Brien.
A juvenile male entered the convenience store at 17th Avenue and Ray Street. The suspect displayed a large handgun, and shouted "Give me all your [expletive] money," O'Brien said.
The clerk gave the juvenile the cash in the register before the suspect fled the scene.
The clerk believed the suspect was one of multiple teens who had stolen from the store earlier that day, O'Brien said. The store was able to provide surveillance pictures of the teen from the candy theft and robbery.
A deputy from the Spokane County Sheriff's office recognized the teen as the same person he was trying to contact, and provided a name and home address for the juvenile.
Spokane Police linked two juvenile brothers at that address to the candy theft and robbery after contacting them at their home address.
Officers also identified a third suspect who was seen on surveillance video entering the store and displaying a handgun.
Officers obtained statements during the investigation that confirmed the three juveniles had concocted the robbery plan as a way to get money to purchase marijuana, O'Brien said.
Officers were able to recover realistic-looking BB guns, stolen money, a ski mask and candy from the suspects.
The three males were booked into the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center for first-degree robbery.
