'I need my husband' | Wife of missing Spokane man pleads for help to find him

As detectives work to process the scene where Robert Abbot may have gone missing, his wife and close friend are asking for any information that could help them.

SPOKANE, Wash. — The family of a missing Spokane man is asking for the community's help to bring him home safely.

Robert Abbott, 62, has been missing since April 5, 2024. The Spokane County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) said the investigation into his disappearance is ongoing. As detectives work to process the scene where he is presumed to have gone missing, Abbott's wife and close friend are asking for any information that could help them find him.

Starr Abbott describes her husband as someone who always goes out of his way to help others. On the day he went missing, she said she was at her mother's home.

When she came home, she found what appeared to be blood on the floor.

"I didn't get out here until the following day," Starr Abbott said. "I didn't even know that it was blood. At first, I was questioning it and it was dry, whatever it was.”

She said Major Crimes Detectives may have found a bullet fragment in a couch cushion and on the ground. Her husband's missing BMW was eventually found at a trailer park in Mead.

For the past week, Starr Abbott and her family's longtime friend DeeAnna Latting have been searching for Robert.

“He’s like a brother, a very close friend," Latting said. “He's got a funny personality. He's witty. He goes above and beyond."

Starr Abbott and Latting hope Robert Abbott is found soon.

"I'm never gonna stop looking for Robert," Starr Abbott said.

They are now asking for the public's help in finding him, even offering a $20,000 reward.

"I need my husband. I need my friend. I need his family to come forward. I need some someone. We need more people to help us find Robert," Starr Abbott said.

SCSO said it is still investigating Robert's disappearance as a missing persons case. They could not speak to whether or not they feel foul play was involved.

Anyone with information about Robert Abbott is asked to call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233.
