Spokane Arena to Undergo $10 Million Renovation

The renovations from May 16 to August 30 will temporarily close the arena for approximately three months.

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Arena is set to undergo upgrades, including updated retractable seating, new LED lighting and revamped suites, all aimed at ensuring the venue's longevity and improved functionality.

According to Matt Meyer, the entertainment director for the Spokane Public Facilities District, the renovations, estimated at $10 million, are essential for bringing the arena up to par with modern standards.

"We just need to renovate it and get it back up to our standards to make it more operable for our operations team," Meyer stated.

The renovations, scheduled from May 16 to August 30, will temporarily close the arena for approximately three months. Despite the inconvenience, Meyer believes the timing is optimal, as the summer months are typically the arena's least busy period. "These summer months, right? Obviously, the Chiefs season is not going on; there's no way we could do this if the Chiefs season were going on," Meyer explained.

While some events originally slated for the arena will be relocated during the renovation period, Meyer assured that the Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live event will proceed as scheduled from June 22-23. Moreover, he anticipates minimal disruption for attendees once the arena reopens.

"I think from your typical consumer who's coming in and out to a handful of shows a year, they might not notice at all," Meyer said.

The completion of the renovations is expected just in time for the Jelly Roll concert on Friday, August 30.
