Parking fees and penalties could increase in Coeur d'Alene under proposed changes

The Coeur d'Alene City Council is set to hold a public hearing during it's regular meeting on Tuesday night, but is not expected to vote on the proposal.

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — Parking violations might become more expensive in the city of Coeur d'Alene.

A staff report from the city's Municipal Services Department recommended that the city's Parking Commission increase parking fees and penalties to $40 after a warning for the first offense, whether a parking or docking violation. After paying a $40 fee for a docking violation, the cost would increase to $50 per day for everyday the violation continues under the proposal. The department also recommends increasing parking fees based on the lot's location and demand.

Below are the fee increases recommended by the municipal services department:

  • Public parking lot violations: $40 (up from $20)
  • All other parking lot violations: $40
  • Boat mooring violations: $50 a day (up from $35 a day)
  • Parking longer than max limit in meter zone or limited parking zone: Courtesy warning for first violation, $40 for second and thereafter

The Coeur d'Alene City Council is set to hold a public hearing during it's regular meeting on Tuesday night, but is not expected to vote on the proposals.
