SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane National Weather Service (NWS) has issued snow squall and winter storm warnings for multiple regions throughout the Inland Northwest.

A snow squall refers to a short period of time with intense snowfall that quickly leads to reduced visibility. Snow squalls are often accompanied by heavy winds.

NWS issued a snow squall warning for I-90 and US-95 near Coeur d'Alene and I-90 near Spokane. The order will remain in effect until 3:15 p.m. on Sunday.

Intense snowfall and heavy fog were also reported in Spokane Valley. A tweet from the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) East showed heavy snow causing extremely reduced visibility.

One crash has already been reported and was blocking the right shoulder of westbound I-90 in Spokane Valley at Flora Road for about 30 minutes, according to WSDOT East.

Note: The collision listed below has cleared.

A winter storm warning has also been issued for the Spokane area and will remain in effect until 8 a.m. on Monday. NWS predicts anywhere from one to three inches of snow could fall throughout the region.
