Local chef constructs life-size gingerbread house

It took months of work and a lot of gingerbread and icing, but the finished product is now ready for visitors.

SPOKANE, Wash. – A local chef took a holiday tradition to new heights. Chef Ricky Webster and his team at the Red Lion Hotel built a life-size gingerbread house. It took months of work and a lot of gingerbread and icing but the finished product is now ready. Webster said he pitched the idea back in June and after months of planning and work, the gingerbread house is now open to the public in the lobby of the Hotel RL in Spokane, “We’ve been going hard at it and this week, many sleepless nights for me and my pastry chef, Megan Gains,” Webster said. He said there was about 1,100 pounds of edible materials that went into constructing the house.

Hotel RL is selling sweet treats made from the same materials used on the gingerbread house. The proceeds will be donated to the local nonprofit organization, Blessings Under The Bridge.
