Spokane nabs top spot on list of ‘affordable, mid-size cities’

For Spokane, most of the people looking to relocate were from the Seattle metro area.

SPOKANE, Wash. – A recent list from Realtor.com handed Spokane first place on a list of “10 Affordable, Midsize Cities.”

The report cited lower home prices and more options for buyers as one of the main draws for out-of-towners. Realtors.com also said job growth in the Inland Northwest is also an incentive, citing the metro Spokane unemployment rate at 3.9 percent, lower than the national rate.

According to the article, Realtors.com looked at the housing markets that had the most page views from people living in other metro areas. For Spokane, they said, most of the people looking to relocate were from the Seattle metro area, which has a median home price of $527,520 (or $675,000 within city limits), as compared to Spokane’s average price of $269,050.
