Evening update: As of 7 p.m. snow is falling at a moderate pace around the Spokane and Coeur d'Alene areas and is slowly expanding into the mountainous regions that are under the Winter Storm Warning tonight and Wednesday morning. Meanwhile, the precipitation is attempting to switch to rain west of Ritzville.

The snow will continuing through midnight tonight before slowly transitioning to rain for a brief period around 4 a.m., give-or-take a couple hours on the timing. By the midday and afternoon hours, all the precipitation will exit the area leaving a time to dry out with the exception of the mountain passes who will continue to see some snowfall.

Snowfall totals will be around 2-4" in Spokane, 3-6" in Coeur d'Alene. Snow totals on the mountain tops may get as high as 14".

The remainder of the week should be dry, mind some morning fog, especially in areas that get a lot of snow and melt off in the coming days.
