SPOKANE, Wash. -- Wildfires rage on across the western side of the United States and Canada.

Suffocating heat returns to the southern portion of the Inland Northwest.

A Heat Advisory is in place Wednesday afternoon and highs 98°-103°.

Warm and dry conditions Wednesday afternoon. Winds are predicted to from blow from the north and the northeast 5-10 mph, gusts 15 mph.

Smoke will be visible in surrounding communities.

According to Washington state wildland firefighters, aerial and ground-based operations will continue Wednesday.

Air Quality expected to be poor for sensitive groups Wednesday and Thursday.
