Crashes along I-90 slow down traffic

Slick roads caused several crashes across the Spokane area on Monday morning, including a crash on I-90 where one car flipped over.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Snow is causing problems on the roads across the Spokane area on Monday morning. Emergency crews have been sent to several spinouts on city streets and highways.

One of the biggest crashes is slowing traffic on I-90 through Liberty Lake. Traffic cameras in the area showed several cars pulled over on the side of the shoulder and one car flipped over. This is in the eastbound direction.

As of 7:00 a.m., emergency crews had arrived at the scene. Drivers should be prepared for slowdowns through the area.

There are no reports of injuries or the cause of the crash. Cameras in the area showed heavy snow falling in the area at the time of the crash.

Another rollover crash was reported at 7:30 a.m. just past Barker Road in Liberty Lake. According to WSDOT, the collision is not blocking roads but traffic is still moving slowly.

Traffic is also slow as of 8:00 a.m. on I-90 in Spokane Valley near the mall. WSDOT reports a multi-vehicle crash on eastbound I-90 at Sullivan. The left lane is blocked and drivers should expect long delays.

Spokane and the Palouse region are under a Winther Weather Advisory on Monday morning as snow is falling.

Snowfall amounts from this storm are going to vary widely depending on where snow bands move through. Some of them are capable of dropping as much as an inch of snow per hour.

The Winter Weather Advisory calls for "variable snow accumulations between 1 and 5 inches, [with the] highest snow amounts between Tekoa and Spokane."

The advisory is scheduled until 10 a.m.
