The heat isn't what it was a week ago when temperatures climbed into the triple digits and over 115 degrees in areas. It is still in dangerous territory, though.

SPOKANE, Wash. — A Heat Advisory is now in place for much of the Inland Northwest as temperatures climb into the 90s and 100s this weekend. The advisory is for 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday for Central and Eastern Washington. It also goes through parts of Oregon and Idaho.

Temperatures will climb to somewhere between 100 and 105 degrees in the Columbia Basin and Lewiston. Eastern Washington will climb to the upper 90s on Saturday.

The heat isn't quite what it was a week ago when temperatures climbed into the triple digits and over 115 degrees in areas. It is still in dangerous territory, that is why it is a heat advisory instead of the excessive heat warning.

The second difference in this weekend's heat is the duration. This time it will be one hot day then temperatures drop by about 5 degrees heading into early next week.

Spokane missed the record for longest 90+ degree high temperatures by just one day. Temperatures topped out at 88 degrees officially on Thursday. There is another potential record we could still see. The most 100+ degree days Spokane has ever seen in a single year stands at 6. We have already seen 4 this year, and we are just now headed into what is historically the warmest time of year.
